Managing Urban Geese A Seminar Sponsored by the Aquatic Resources Center of DC |

For
land owners and property managers who are experiencing detrimental effects to their
property due to non-migrating resident Canada geese, the Goose Management Committee of DC (a coalition comprised of the National Park Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, and the District of Columbia) is sponsoring an all-day
brown-bag seminar.
The Keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Jim Cooper, Director of the Canada Goose Project. Dr. Cooper has over 20 years of experience developing goose management programs and laid the foundation for what is currently the largest goose management program in the country. In addition, short perspectives detailing
a local problem specifically a 40-acre wetland at Kingman Marsh that cost DC $5 Million to restore
($125,000/acre - excluding land costs), which has all but been destroyed by resident Canada geese will be given by local representatives from each of the coalition members.
